Spending your money in charity shops is especially satisfying, I see the product as a sovinier for the good deed! 14 August 2010, 21:01suprised the shop assistant
I saw a brooch recentkly at a charity shop and took a look. I asked how much it was , "its £1.50 dear - rather nice little object." Rather nice -- i should coco and way too cheap ! I said "would you take a fiver for it?" the response was "off course I would", followed by "are you kidding?". I said no problem put the rest as a donation. It was great to make that persons day - and it made mine too. 10 March 2010, 16:15charitty

The first time trying this at my local Not-for-profit thrift store I was a little nervous. Would they think I was crazy? But with a little laughter the clerk understood what was going on.
Apparently our "bartering" has attracted some attention, and now a few more people have started. In this economy it may not last, but at least I've made a new friend!
Thank you for the idea. 22 April 2008, 18:35
Small change matters
I recommend Action 27. I've shopped at charity shops for years - for clothes, birthday presents, books, videos, whatever - and more often that not I find something I really like in there that I can't find anywhere else. Recently I've started putting my spare change into the collection boxes they have at the till when I pay for what I've bought, so they get a bit extra too - so all those coppers and 5p's you've got rattling around in your purse or wallet can go to a good cause and stop annoying you! I'd urge everyone to shops at charity shops - everybody's a winner, both you and the charity. :) 06 January 2008, 13:21
